Employment History

1995 to present - Owner / Operator - T.R.Software

March 1993 to July 1995

Allied Business Systems, Inc. (Norwest Financial) Macon, GA

Allied Business Systems is a software development company that specializes in computer software for the consumer finance industry.  Started in the late 1970's by a former IBM Marketing representative, it has since been purchased by Norwest Financial and continues to operate as a wholly owned subsidiary.

Allied's flagship product, Loan Master, was originally developed on an IBM 5280 system and had been transported to a networked P.C. environment based on MS/DOS.  Among the many projects I was involved with at the company, was the redevelopment of the system to work on the MS/Windows operating system (a major undertaking).  This redevelopment is instrumental in the continued marketability of the Loan Master system.

I also developed the Mirror Image system and the Corporate Information Systems Architecture.  While most of Allied's customers were "one office" companies, the consumer loan industry is increasingly becoming consolidated with large corporations operating a number of branch offices across a wide geographical area.   The Mirror Image system provides a highly sophisticated way to keep a "Mirror Image" of the data at each branch office on a corporate computer.  This provides many benefits to the corporation including reduced system management costs and increased utilization of financial and demographic information.  The Corporate Information Systems Architecture provides a high level interface to consolidated information for ad-hoc reports and graphs.

Farmers Furniture - Dublin, GA

Farmers Furniture is a retail furniture chain with over 100 store locations in the southeast. As the Programming and Systems Manager, I designed, developed and implemented most of the systems used by the company. Systems in use at the company headquarters include, Purchasing, Distribution Management, Inventory, Sales, Installment Accounts Receivable, and many others. I also developed a networked P.C. based store system which handles the day to day operations at the store level. This system includes Cash Accounting, Installment Accounts Receivable, Inventory, Sales, Host Communications, and many other features. I recommended that the company purchase a prepackaged accounting system and developed interfaces from the custom system to this package.

Reporting to the Director of Information Systems, I had management responsibility over programming and computer operations personnel. This responsibility includes recruitment, performance appraisals, project management, and technical assistance / training. Also, I performed typical Systems Management duties including capacity planning, problem and change management, hardware configuration, and operating systems installation and upgrades.
